One of the fun aspects of collecting and shooting surplus arms is the never ending search for good, cheap ammo–with an emphasis on cheap. The challenge is that good, cheap, surplus ammo comes and goes. Sometimes it’s gone forever.

Leadership is simple. You just have to know exactly what you want for your company, department, or project team.
I speak to business owners and ask them, "What do you want?" They respond, "I want to make a profit?’ I ask, "How much?" and they say "As much as I can get" "What if you can’t get very much?" "That’s not enough?’ "Then how much do you want?" "More" "More than what?" "More than I’m getting now" Obviously, these owners really don’t know what they want or have a clear target to shoot for.
Examples of clear targets include "$500,000 net profit per year," "sales of $1,000,000 per month," and "the project team must make $50,000 on this job and get at least two referrals from the customer."
Leaders know what they want and communicate specific, clear targets and deadlines for their people. And only then can the company develop a plan to get what it wants. More is never a target. More than what?
There are three steps to get what you want.
1. Know what you want. 2. Have a plan. 3. Always make progress towards what you want.
You get pulled off track every day by routine business activities. Things go wrong, customers call with immediate needs, equipment breaks, or people don’t show up. These daily inconveniences pull you off course and take away from your number one priority, which may be bottom line profit, sales, or customer service.
